Hi guys! It’s the start of a New Year and it’s the perfect time to get organize. I like being organize because it’s always a good idea to have a system in place that works for you. So if you guys are interested, I have picked up a few tips on how to get started. Let’s go!
1. GET A PLANNER
In order to start organizing your life you will need to invest in a planner, paper or electronic, that you love.. something that will work for you. There are so many options. My personal favorite, Create 365 The Happy Planner by me & my BIG ideas, is a paper planner. I really like their planners a lot and this is the second year I have been using it. Their designs get better every year and they are super cute. The format is fantastic and it’s affordable! I like using the mini planners because I can easily fit it inside my purse.
2. SET YOUR GOALS
For this step, you will need to think on a larger scale. What do you want to accomplish this year? What are your goals? Brainstorm and write them all down.
3. WHAT IS IMPORTANT
You will need to know what’s important. What are you prioritizing this year? A new business? Time for yourself? Health and fitness? A new hobby? You will need to write all of these down as well. You will need to keep in mind what you are prioritizing when you plan each and every day. So knowing what is important will help organize your life.
4. IMPORTANT DATES
This is important. You will need to figure out any important dates such as birthdays, school activities, vacations, appointments and anything else you already know about that is coming up so you don’t forget it. Write them all down in your new planner, whatever system you end up using, that way anything important is all set and will not be forgotten.
5. START MAKING APPOINTMENTS
After you write down all the important dates in your new planner, the next step is to determine what needs to be done for the year and start making appointments. Make a list of any appointments such as seeing the doctor or the dentist, meetings and car appointments. Get it started now and you will have a very organize year.
6. WEEKLY REVIEWS
With this, you will need to review your upcoming week and plan things out each day. I like to do this on Sunday and finish it up on Monday. It’s important to focus on what is important to you so that you can accomplish your goals. For example, if you want to focus on health and fitness, you will need to schedule in some time for exercise. Don’t forget to schedule other things as well such as chores or play dates.. whatever floats your boat. Really.. anything that you want to do.
If you want to work on a couple of things or have several goals for the year and you think one planner will not cut it, do not be afraid to have more than one. Personally, I have two planners this year to get me organize throughout the year.
My first planner is all about my everyday to dos and personal goals, and my second planner is all about organizing my bills and savings. I also added in a one word journal in my weekly spread. I love having two planners because it makes everything more organize. I know others who have more than one, so it’s really up to you.
8. BE CONSISTENT
This is the last step.. being consistent! If you have done everything listed above, you are doing great and are off to a great start. It is very important to continue to use the system you have created throughout the year. Don’t forget to reevaluate your goals regularly and this will help you continue accomplish your goals.
